Baby's Outfit Cake
This baby cake is two 14x14 butter cakes, filled with three layers of chocolate mousse, bavarian cream and strawberry jam. Both cakes were joined and doweled in the center with drinking straws to secure them as they were heavy.
After sealing the crumbs with light Italian Buttercream, I covered the cake with the basket weave technique using white and blue colors.
I prepared templates of baby clothing by copying them from a picture found in an internet advertisement.
I prepared the fondant with the rolling pin to leave it flat about 1/8 of an inch. I positioned the template over it, cut the pieces with a sharp little knife and positioned over the cake.
I lifted the baby's suit by placing some fondant underneath it. Hope this instructions are clear.
