Sports Themed Birthday Cake Pictures
Bake a one layer round cake the size that you need. The birthday cake picture above is a ten inch round cake.
Using an icing filled bag and round tip, size #5, draw
a ball design on the top of the cake (refer to the picture above).
Using blue icing and star tip, size #18, go over the drawn lines with
stars.
Next, fill in the sides and top with white icing and the same size star tip. Use blue or white icing and round tip, size #5 to write the message on the cake board.
Note: The cake can also be baked in a sports ball cake pan and decorated in the same manner as the volleyball in the picture above.
Another Volleyball Birthday Cake Picture
Easy instructions for making a volleyball sheet cake:Bake a full size sheet cake and a ball cake using the sports ball shaped cake pan. Ice the sheet cake in white buttercream icing.
Mark 1 and ½ inches in from the edge all around the cake top. Connect the markings with a ruler or straight edge. You will have a rectangle centered on top of the cake.
With white icing and round tip, size #5, make x’s all around the sides
of the cake, also on the top edge to the rectangle.
Next use white icing and star tip, size #18 to make the shell border on the top and bottom edges of the sides of the cake. Also put a shell border around the rectangle on top of the cake.
Then place the ball cake on the left hand side of the sheet cake.
Decorate the ball using blue icing (or whatever color you choose) and star tip, size #18. Make blue lines of the volleyball according to the above volleyball birthday cake pictures. Fill the ball in with white icing and the same size star tip.
Write your message in blue icing with round tip, size
#5.
