Transfer Cake Patterns with the T-Pin Transfer Method

This is an easy way to transfer cake patterns to your cake top so you can just fill in your picture or design with icing:

First, make a copy of your pattern that you are going to use. Enlarge it if necessary to fit the cake size that you need.

Cut a piece of parchment paper to cover the pattern. Next, use a T pin (a pin shaped like a T) and punch holes along all the lines on the pattern.

Then, put a thin coat of icing on your cake top. This has to set for at least 20 minutes.

Finally, lay the parchment punched pattern on the set icing. Lightly rub the top of the parchment pattern with your fingers. After you have rubbed the entire pattern surface, lift the parchment paper off of the cake top. You will see your pattern on the cake top.

This technique works well for sheet cakes where you are just decorating a picture on the top of them such as this: Princess Cake Or cakes with a little more detail such as this: Tinkerbell Cake

At some point in the future, we hope to have cake patterns of all the cakes that you can download to help make them easier to decorate. For now there are the following cake patterns available:
