Character Cakes . . . Charlie Brown

Easy instructions for making character cakes such as this Charlie Brown cake:

(Note: This is one of those cakes that was made many years ago, so I am sorry for the poor picture quality.)

Bake a sheet cake the size that you need. With an icing filled bag and round tip, size #5, draw Charlie Brown on the top of the cake.

Cut away the cake from the Charlie Brown shape.

Make a flesh colored icing and using star tip, size #18, cover the face, hand, arm and legs. To make the flesh color icing use a very small amount of orange and red paste or gel food coloring. Add these colors in very small amounts until you have a light flesh color.

Next make a bright yellow icing and using star tip, size #18, cover Charlie Brown’s shirt.

Make black icing and use the same size star tip and cover zigzags on his shirt and shorts.

Now make brown icing and use the same size star tip, size #18 and cover the shoes.

Finally with the black icing and round tip, size #5, draw hair, eyes, nose and the smile on Charlie Brown’s face. Don’t forget to also do the laces on his shoes.
