Can I put a crumb coat on my cake the night before, if I am going to ice it early the next morning?

Yes. Just make sure that you have covered all surfaces of the cake so it doesn't dry out . The shortening in the icing will seal in the moisture.

Just wrap it up with saran wrap so that the air doesn't dry it out.
