crystals on wires

by Debbi
(NJ)

Hi - I see a lot of the decorators on TV add beads & crystals on some sort of wires to the tops of their cakes. Any idea what they use and how they insert them into the cakes?

Thanks, Debbi

No, not edible they are like from chandaleers and fancy lamps. Some of the TV guys have them sticking out of the tops of cakes on wires. They add height and drama to the cake. I did see the crystals in Michael's and even on sale some were $14.99 each. Than you both for your input.

You can purchase the crystals at craft stores like "Michaels" in the beading section. {They are quite expensive}! There are several kinds of floral and craft wires that you can use. You'll also need a couple of the tools used to wire beads. It would help if you bought a beading book to learn how to wire and loop the beads so that they dangle properly.

I'm sorry I can't be much help. I don't get to watch those shows. We don't have cable.

Are the crystals edible????
