Doll Cake in Blue

To make this doll cake, I used a cheap doll that I bought at a 99 cents store. I used the ball cake pan. I baked one butter cake, and froze it for 3 hours. Then using a serrated knife sculpted the body, using the same knife opened a circular hole into it to insert the doll. I iced the cake with decorator's buttercream (recipe found in the internet).

Next, I refrigerated the cake for a couple of minutes to dry out the icing. I smoothed it rubbing gently over a Viva towel to achieve a fondant-like finish. Marked the positions where the hearts were to be piped. I marked the hearts using little cookie cutters and piped them using tip #32. Using eyebrows tweezers, I applied the silver dragees. I inserted the doll and piped the top of her dress as well as the little hat.
