Edible Tiffany Tiara and Box Cake
The Tiara was made out of fondant with a hand cut scroll design, the jewels are made of candy and backed with edible silver to complete the effect.
I first made a template in the design I wanted and cut the fondant using a knife. Using a form (i.e. coffee can)it took a week to harden and take the shape. I used a candy mold to make the jewels and then backed them with edible silver to give it glitz. The tissue paper is fondant rolled very thin .
The cake is the traditional Italian Tri-Colored cookie recipe. It was baked in a square pan and the filling is apricot preserves. When you cut into this cake, the inside is just as beautiful.
The cover of this cake is also one layer.
I used apricot preserves to adhere the fondant which I also made a pattern to cut from so the lines would be crisp and sharp like a box.
