Eleanor's Purse Cake

Eleanor's Purse Cake

To make this purse cake, I baked a half sheet cake of strawberry cake, and cut it in fourths. Use only three of them and butter creamed each of the layers. I then put three plastic straws down as dowels to keep it together. Sculpted the purse to a shape I wanted and then butter creamed all together.

I made some fondant and just made a few little square decorations to add to it and covered the cake with the fondant. Tinted some brown and cut out corners and the straps and put them on.

Cut out the name to put on top and dusted the cake with a soft brush and pearl luster dust.

It was my first try at sculpting and first at doing a purse. What fun. Next time I think it will be better, now that I kinda know what I am doing. Nancy of CA
