An Adventure in Fondant

An Adventure in Fondant

This cake was especially made for my 5 year-old daughter's birthday. She loves all things fairy, flowery and sparkly.

This cake was made with 1 9-inch round as the base. I frosted it and rolled on the green fondant.

The flower blossom was made with 2 8-inch rounds. They were filled and frosted, then covered in rolled purple fondant.

The petals were hand cut from purple fondant. I used a simple leaf shape. They were adhered with water, the tips were curled back.

I rolled and cut green fondant with a heart-shaped cookie cutter to resemble leaves. I also rolled the vines out of the green.

The whole cake was then sprinkled with coarse sugar to represent the pixie dust. (I wet down the fondant with water on a brush)

A Tinkerbell candle tops the blossom.
