Fun at the Fair Carousel Cake
This carousel cake was my entry for the County Fair last year. The base cake,10"
and second layer is an 8" white almond with raspberry mousse filling. They are both covered with butter cream icing, and fondant flowers.
The 8" layer conceals a turn table which rotates the carousel. The 'floor' of the carousel is a 9x1" brownie, covered with fondant impressed with hardwood floor look.
The center post is made from styrofoam covered in fondant and spring flower bouquets that match the bottom two layers.
The top of the carousel is made from fondant covered styrofoam.
Craft mirrors adorn the sides of the top, and are encircled with gold dusted fondant flowers.
The lights actually light and flash as you would see on a real carousel. The horses are plastic and non-edible.
There are nearly one thousand tiny fondant flowers which I made and dusted with Super Pearl Dust....
