Girlie Butterfly and Flowers Cake

Butterfly and Flowers Cake

Butterfly and Flowers Cake

I made this very girlie cake for a friend’s daughter’s 3rd birthday. I made 2 different sized round chocolate cakes and covered them in buttercream and pale pink fondant(sugarpaste). I made white fondant(sugarpaste)and I used cutters to cut out her name, age, 3 butterflies and lots and lots of flowers and leaves.

I used paste food colorings mixed with alcohol to paint the flowers, leaves and butterflies and sprinkled them with various colors of edible glitter.

I used pink, gold and blue dragees for the middles of the flowers and the spots on the butterflies. I put the small cake on top of the big cake using buttercream.

I mixed some of the pink sugarpaste with hot water to make a “glue” to stick on the flowers, leaves, butterflies. I painted the name and age with edible gold mixed with alcohol and stuck it on too.
