Make a yellow icing and ice the cake, making sure it's nice and smooth.
Either draw Harry on the cake top with an icing filled bag using round
tip #5 or use the parchment papers transfer method.
The face, neck, hand and sword are cut out of rolled out gum paste and
left to dry. They will dry hard. Once dried, they are painted with the
food coloring and a small brush. Place them in position on the cake.
Make a brown, dark blue and a red icing.
You will do all the fill in work with the star tip #16 and the line
work
with tip #5.
With the blue icing, outline the robe and then fill it in. Next, use
the red icing to fill in the sweater and robe areas.
Use round tip #5 and the brown icing filling in the hair, making lines
to resemble the strands of hair.
Finally, use your yellow icing and star tip #32 to do a shell border
around the top and bottom edges of the sides of the cake. You now have
the perfect
birthday cake for any Harry Potter fan!
