How do you make black sugarpaste shiny?

by Adela

Hi,

I am making my partner a birthday cake in the shape of a Royal Navy Officer's cap.
The peak of the cap is black and shiny. I have black sugarpaste to use to make it but I am not sure how to make it shiny.
Can anyone help please?

Go to the internet and put in "edible varnish recipe". Very easy recipe and makes a very shiny coating.

you can rub shortening on it or spray it with Wilton's black spray color.
