Shells and Thongs Island Cake

Shells and Thongs Island Cake

For this island cake, I baked a confetti cake with eight inch pans. I cut them in half and filled them with buttercream and frosted with buttercream. Then came the fondant that I made and tinted blue. I made ahead of time, candies with molds of shells, shoes, and used pearl luster dust on them.

I made my own coral with cut fondant and the big shell with fondant. The pearls are all fondant with luster dust. I made a couple of flowers with the leftover fondant.

In the large shell I mixed sugar and cinnamon to look like sand. I glued the candy on with buttercream frosting. I wasn't sure what to use, so I hope it holds okay. So far so good....Nancy
