Julius (Paul Frank) Monkey 1st Birthday Cake

I made Julius monkeys (Paul Frank) out of Wilton candy melts (light cocoa, dark cocoa, and red).

For the top of the cake, I used fondant in black, light tan, and red.

I also used a cake round and melted blue candy melts on it about a 1/4 inch thick and used that as a background to cover the top of the cake and placed the monkey face on that.

Fondant was MUCH easier to work with than the chocolate candy.

I kept breaking the candy monkeys because they were so fragile.

I ended up with just enough to surround the cake.

I created an additional fondant Julius for the "smash" cake.
