Pool Table Birthday Cake
My daughter came up with this pool table birthday cake for her friend.
I used a box mix and baked according to directions in a 9" x 13" pan.
Let cool completely.
I used some kind of melon tool, I have no idea what it's called, but it made perfect holes in the 'table'.
I covered with green buttercream icing. Let dry a bit and then used the Viva! paper towel to smooth.
Then I used brown buttercream and covered the sides of the cake and made the top rail. I used a bag to put lots of icing for the rails.
I let it dry a bit and then used the paper towel on it also. Then I used a star tip and put a shell border around the bottom.
Then I used gum balls for pool balls and black icing with a #1 tip to make the triangle around the balls... so they wouldn't roll off!
I added 2 pieces of cut dowell rod for pool cues.
Next time I'm going to make the balls look as if they had just been broken with a couple in the pockets.
