R2D2 Welcomes Birthday Friends

I made this R2D2 cake for my sons birthday. I have two boys and I always try to make something special for their birthdays. They like my homemade cakes so no bakery cakes for us! I don't have any special cake molds or tools so we rely on creativity.

For R2D2, I make a single layer chocolate cake in a 9 x 13-inch pan. After it cooled, I shaped R2's dome shaped head and trimmed out his "leg" shapes. Next, I made butter cream frosting to cover the entire cake. I held out 1 1/2 cups and tinted them robot blue.

Next, following a toy R2D2 that we had on hand, my son and I created the design. It was a total hit with him and all of his friends.

It just proves that a cake made with love and imagination is the best one!

R2D2 CAKE

VERY GOOD JOB!

My son loves Star Wars too and I haven't been able to find the shaped pans at yard sales yet.

He looked at your cake and wants me to make one for him! What a compliment! ;}

Such a good job!
