The Blues Football Cake

This cake is a chocolate sponge which I layered with chocolate and vanilla buttercream and crumb coated with vanilla buttercream. I covered it with fondant icing which I colored green with edible paste color.
The figures I modeled with fondant and the scarf was fondant also, which I cut out with wilsons ribbon cutter roller, then added strips of blue and cut the fringe with scissors.
I used a template from the internet to pipe the markings of the football pitch. The lettering was cut out in gumpaste. I based the idea from Carol Deacons SPORTY CAKES BOOK but changed the team color to blue, as the birthday boy who will be 11 later this week supports Cardiff City Bluebirds. I hope he likes his cake.
