Edible Gold

How do I achieve the shiny edible gold color to decorate fondant and gum paste with? I've tried petal and luster dust mixed with vodka (I've even used lemon extract) but it doesn't result in the metallic gold that I'm after. I have also used the gold gels with I'm usually left with a more yellow effect than the "shiny gold". HELP!!!

Try brushing shortening ( lightly) on the already covered cake. Use a soft pastry brush to dab the glitter, avoid concentrating the glitter on one spot. After dabbing the cake all over the cake, use the brush to spread the glitter. I hope this works for you.
