Mail Box Cake
This mail box cake was for my son that just put in 35 years at the post office. After all those years, it's hard to find another idea for a birthday cake for him....I used a throw away aluminum pan that is for steaming, it was a 10 by 7 1/2 and almost 3 inchs deep.
I used two red velvet cake mixes and they didn't all fit so I baked two 6 inch for leftovers. I sculpted the cake like a mailbox and one of the 6 inch pans I cut lenghtwise for the lid of the mail box.
I used buttercream to set the cake and marshmallow fondant for the covering.
All the decors were made with gumpaste and I used a little pearl luster dust lightly over the finished cake. Nancy of Rialto, CA
