Princess Cake

Princess Cake

To make this princess cake, the most important part is a round pyrex bowl. You have to make one cake layer in this bowl in order to have the rounded part of the dress. You should only fill it halfway full so that the cake can cook evenly. I used two cake mixes that made four layers (Barbies are very tall)... a Pyrex glass pie dish, two 8-inch round pans, and the Pyrex bowl.

You could also make fewer layers and use a doll topper found at deco stores like Michael's. Ice in between layers with a thick icing so that the layers don't slide.

We have made this cake for so many princess parties and just change the color of the dress. I use fake flowers to add more to the dress but once you ice the cake you can do almost anything to design the dress. Add candies and pearls.
