Bob The Builder Easy Peasy Birthday Cake

This was for my little boy's 2nd birthday party! I used the following recipe which makes a great firm sponge cake:

Imperial
8 oz Sugar
3 eggs
12 oz milk
4 tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla essence
16 oz flour
6 tsp baking powder

Beat the eggs whites and sugar until they are stiff. Add egg yolks and then beat again. Add the melted butter, milk, vanilla essence and sifted cake flour to the mixture. Beat together briefly till just mixed. Fold in the baking powder. Pour into lined pans.

I actually doubled the recipe.

Bake for 30 minutes at 180 (350 degrees F)
This cake is best left to rest for a day before decorating.

As you can see, it really is simple but I think it looks really effective. I basically mixed some pale green fondant (holly) covered the entire cake.

I made a road from white and black (I ended up buying the black as I couldn't get it dark enough using the paste)and added the ready bought Bob & Muck characters.

I filled Muck with allsorts sweeties and used my sons playdough letter cutters for the name etc...

Hey presto! a cake you can decorate in less than a half hour!!!!
