Buttercream decorations and whipped frosting (cool whip)

Hi! I would like to frost my cake with whipped frosting since we don't like too sweet icing. I am planning on decorating it with buttercream flowers but I think the colors on the decorations will bleed on the whipped frosting. Is there any way I can avoid that? Maybe put some edible paper between the whipped frosting and the decorations? Thanks for your help!

I have been on fresh cream/whipping cream decorating for years. You may whip the cream a bit longer till the surface is not glossy and a bit stiff . Remember always whip your cream in medium speed.
