Car Cake

by Cindy
(PA)

I want to make a 3 D car shaped cake. I have seen many on-line.

I am wondering if freezing the cake and then cutting with an electric knife will work best.
I just don't know how long to freeze it and also how long do I wait to ice it??
Do I wait until it thaws fully?? I have read to put in the freezer for 1 hr. Then cut, then ice???
If you have any advice I would appreciate.
Thanks.

Here is a pict of one I LOVE!!

I've been told the same thing that it needs to be frozen hard.
I have never tried that. I'm impatient and just carve with a bread or steak knife after it cools.

I do understand that when it's frozen, it doesn't crumble as much. So it's worth a try.

If the wilton cruiser pan is what you want, watch Michael's and Hobby Lobby online coupons. You can get 40% - 50% off of it. That's how I buy my new pans.

I can't see the pictures but carving is easier when a cake is frozen hard. I would leave it in overnight and then carve it. Wilton also has a 3d car pan but i don't know if the shape is what you want
