Fondant decorations on a buttercream covered cake

I am doing a two tiered cake that is entirely covered in Italian buttercream. I am planning on using fondant just for decoration purposes but was wondering if I stuck them on the night before the event, if they would slide off in the refrigerator?

I do not know the difference between italian buttercreme and regular buttercreme.

I always put my fondant on buttercreme the night before. I've never had any trouble.
