Fondant or Regal Icing

by Nichola
(Kent, UK)

Hi, I am new to baking and was wondering what the difference is between regal icing and fondant icing? Or is it the same thing? We can't seem to get a lot of ready to use fondant icing in the UK but there seems to be loads of regal icing ready to use? Help??

Fondant icing and Regal ice

They are the same! Marshmallow fondant is different. You make your own MMF. I have to make both my own fondant and MMf. Regalice is the commercial brand of ordinary fondant icing you can find in the UK. Both are icings which you roll out to cover your cakes. MMF is tastier but Regalice or rolled fondant is nice and matte finish for a wedding cake. I make both and then combine them to get looks and flavour. Hope this helps!

WISH I COULD HELP

I AM NOT SURE BUT FONDANT IS MADE WITH MARSMALLOW AND POWERED SUGAR AND THE REGAL ICING IS MORE LIKE A ROYAL FROSTING. QUITE A DIFFERENCE.. I HAVE NEVER USED THE REAGAL BEFORE. NANCY
