This handbag cake is a 6 inch all butter madeira sponge cake which I shaped by cutting about a third off the side, then buttercreaming and covering with fondant and standing on its side. The cake board was fondant iced and ruched and sprinkled with luster to look like satin.
I made the handles with gumpaste and the roses were handmade without cutters.
