How do I make shiny frosting that I can tint different colors?

by Deb

I am making cakes in the shape of Lego building blocks. I would like the frosting to have a smooth texture and look shiny like plastic. I cannot use eggs due to food allergies. Any ideas? Thanks.

try using piping gel. its colorless and you can use a brush to "paint" it on after you have frosted your cake and it sets for a bit. you can buy it probebly anywhere. i get mine at the arts and craft store in the cake decorating section...
