how to store cakes with edible icing toppers

If you can't put cup/large cakes with edible icing toppers in the fridge or in a cake box how can you store them to keep them fresh and what about transporting them to the party.

I always have odd shaped cakes that don't fit in a cake box.

I have used a cardboard box that's large enough and put a trash bag completely over it.... a CLEAN trash bag! lol

Just an option.
