Little Einsteins Rocket Cake
by Jen Strange
Our Favorite Rocketship Cake
For this Little Einsteins rocket cake, I used a Pyrex bowl for the top, a regular 9 in round pan for the bottom, and a 9x13 pan for the sky. I turned the bowl cake upside down on top & toward the back of the round cake to make rocket.
I iced the 9x13 in cornflower blue no taste gel (use whatever blue you have)and placed rocket toward the back. Then crumb frosted rocket in no taste red and drew an outline for the window with a toothpick. The window is the same blue as the sky.
I iced the cake with a star tip, and stuck Twinkies on the sides as rocket boosters (iced them w/ star tip also). Lemondrops are the headlights and a dum dum is the little thing on the top of rocket. I just colored the stick with a red non-toxic marker. I used a ziptop bag with a hole cut in the corner to pipe the clouds. I am NOT a cake decorator, in fact this was the first one I've ever made. I had to borrow the color gel & tips. I was REALLY impressed with myself!!! :)
I ran out of time but you could ice graham crackers or cardboard for the fins on top of the rocket boosters. It was so much fun and our 2 year old absolutely LOVED his "favrit mocketship" cake.
