Look Whooo's One

This is decadent triple chocolate truffle cake with cream cheese whipped cream icing and filling. I was given a picture of the napkins as reference. After crumb coating, I freehand the owl, and branch with a toothpick, then outline.

I filled in these areas and background with buttercream. After allowing this to "crust" well in the refrigerator, I press it down as smoothly as possible, using warm water for any cracks.

The remainder of the cake is finished with hot pink cream cheese whipped cream icing, scooped with small spoon, this tends to give cakes that "Ooooh yummm" factor.

Finally pipe the lettering and complete the "smash cake" which is strictly a vanilla cream cake with buttercream icing.

The pictures of miss Layla demolishing her cake were precious and the hot pink helped to highlight her little cheeks for several hours!
