My RTR fondant looks dry

by Paula
(Canberra)

I have been making cakes for my kids and I like to use bought Rtr fondant. But it always tends to look dry and cracked no matter what I do! I have tried adding glycerine- i read somewhere to use it but I think that is for homemade icing. I have also been told it could be worked too much, but how else do you mix in colour? I use gels which is supposed to be better. I have seen lots of figurines and cakes and they all look so glossy.... any help? What am I doing wrong?

Cracking Fondant
by: Wanda

I have found by trial and error, that if I add a little cornsyrup to fondant it makes it more pliable. I have added it to both store bought and home made just be carefull of the amount you add too much is not good.Start with very smaal amounts and work it in you will find the right consistancy.
