Red Color Cake Icing

by Sharmila

I want to use red color in my sons birthday cake. I tried using all shades of red but I could achieve only dark pink. If I tend to add more coloring, the taste of the icing changes. What can i do?

Wilton makes a no taste deep red gel coloring that makes a pretty red color without changing the flavor of the icing.

RED ICING ANSWER
by: NANCY

HI, DO YOU USE A REG. MARKET BOUGHT COLOR? IF SO IT WILL BE HARD TO MAKE RED. YOU HAVE TO GET A RED PASTE GEL AND IF YOU CAN FIND A RED RED WITH NOT A BITTER FLAVOR, IT WILL WORK. IF YOU NEED A DARKER COLOR,YOU CAN ADD SOME BLACK. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU..GOOD LUCK AND PUT YOUR CAKE ON HERE WHEN DONE...NANCY OF CA
