Topsy Turvy Cake - A Fun Cake to MakeEasy directions for making this Topsy Turvy cake:
Bake a sheet cake the size that you need. With an icing filled bag and the round tip #5 draw the cake design on the cake top. Cut the cake away from the cake design.
Now fill in the ribbon with the red icing. Make a light yellow green icing and follow the same procedure with the green ribbon---outline the ribbon and then fill in a small line across the green ribbon where you want the ribbon to look like the top edge of that layer and then fill it in using the light yellow green icing for both.
Now outline the balls at the bottom of the top layer and fill them in with the same green icing. With your pink icing outline the pink balls at the bottom of the middle layer and fill them in with the same pink icing. On the bottom layer outline the green balls with the green icing and fill them in with the green icing. Also on the bottom layer outline the white balls with the white icing and fill them in with the same white icing.
Now make the green circles using the green icing, outlining them first and then filling them in. Do the same with the pink circles using the pink icing.
Note: Notice the shapes of the circles near the top of each layer. This gives dimension to the cake. Now fill in the rest of the cake with white icing.
The plate that the cake sits on is outlined and filled in with a medium gray icing. The flowers on the cake top are outlined in red and filled in with pink. The leaves are outlined in a dark green icing and filled in with the yellow green icing.
Finally fill in the sides of the cake with white or ivory icing.
