Make a border on parchment paper to fit the cake top (like a picture frame with the center cut out). Lay this paper border on the cake top.

Now with green food coloring, spray the center of the cake, which will be the football field.

After the sprayed surface is dry, use a white icing and round tip, size #5 and make yard lines on the green field area.

Change the tip to a round tip, size #3 and make the yard numbers by the lines on both long sides of the field.

I made this cake a Notre Dame cake, but you can make it any school you want by putting that school’s symbol in the center of the field and name in each end zone.

I used blue icing and star tip, size #14 to do the N & D symbol in the middle of the field and write Irish in the end zones.

I then made a yellow colored icing and used round tip, size #4 and outlined all of the blue letters.

Finally, using six yellow straws, cut and glue them together to form the two goal posts, making sure they are in proportion to the field. Now push them into the end zones of your football field cake.

Finally, using the icing color of your choice, write the message on the board.
