Lady Bug Birhtday Cake

Lady Bug Birhtday Cake

To make this lady bug birthday cake, I just baked a 2 layer round cake and put icing in the middle as usual, then trim to make the shape of the lady bug. Use the trimmings to make a head.

I made marshmallow fondant and tinted some red, and some black using food coloring. Roll out red fondant and cover cake with it. Using a shot glass, I cut out black circles to use as the spots. For the eyes, use something small and round to cut the eyes out of the white fondant and just use tiny bits of the black fondant on top of the white to make the eyes complete.

This was my first attempt at a fondant cake but I think it turned out great!
