Magnolia Flower Cake
by Nancy Courtney
(Rialto, CA)
This magnolia flower cake I did was an eight by eight round pan and it was a white cake. I had practiced making magnolia flowers with gumpaste to see if I could do it or not. I let them dry for a few hours and while they were drying, I butter creamed the cake with a crumb coat and then put white fondant over it.
I cut out some little round lightly tinted circles for around the bottom of the cake. Put a shell border around the top with a shell tip and then put the flowers on.
Whenever I do a practice cake, I take it to our tire shop in town and give it to the guys that work there.
They are always ready for cake...Nancy of Rialto, CA
