Decorating Birthday Cakes Such as This Kermit the Frog Cake

Easy directions for decorating birthday cakes such as this Kermit the frog cake:

Bake a sheet cake the size that you need. With an icing filled bag and round tip, size #5, draw Kermit on the cake surface. Cut away the cake from the Kermit outline and use the cut pieces to extend the points on the collar if needed.

decorating birthday cakes - Kermit With white icing and using star tip, size #18, cover Kermit’s eyes with black icing and round tip, size #5, put the black centers in his eyes.

Make red icing and using star tip, size #18, fill in Kermit’s mouth.

Make a lighter shade of red icing and fill in Kermit’s tongue using the same size star tip.

Now make a yellow green icing. To make the yellow green color icing, make the yellow icing first and then add green food coloring to it a little at a time until you have the desired shade that you want.

Next, make the icing that will be used for the shading lines on Kermit. To make this shading color, separate out some of your yellow green icing and add a little more green food coloring to it to make it a shade darker than your other yellow green icing.

Use your shading color of the darker yellow green icing and star tip, size #18 to fill in the shaded areas and outline of Kermit’s face. Also outline only one side of the points on Kermit’s collar. Refer to the picture of Kermit the frog.

Now take your yellow green icing and fill in Kermit’s face and collar using the same size star tip, size #18.

With the same yellow green icing and round tip #5, write your message on the board.
